Jon and Catherine first met at her sister's rehearsal dinner. He was a groomsman, and she was the Maid of Honor.

When she saw him, her first thought was that he was the most handsome man she’d ever seen. Ironically, several months prior, Jon had seen a group picture and had asked about Catherine. That night, snickers bars and a drink were exchanged.

They spent the wedding dancing. Somewhere along the way, a pinky promise was made.

Three days later, they had their first date on her birthday. After hamburgers and during their walk on the beach, Catherine thought now was a good time to mention that she'd be leaving in 6 weeks for a job in Tulsa. They both agreed to just see where their remaining time took them, without pressure.

They spent time together every day for those 6 weeks. When Catherine moved to Tulsa, Jon drove the 17 hours with her and helped her move in.

They maintained a long-distance relationship for 1 1/2 years, seeing each other every couple of weeks. They traveled for Thanksgiving, Christmas, weddings, birthdays, babies, baptisms, and everything in between. They personally kept American Airlines in business.

Catherine moved to Dallas for a promotion in August of 2023. Jon moved to Dallas in November of that same year. Jon bought the ring over his Thanksgiving trip back home.

Because Catherine has a habit of guessing surprises, Jon planned to propose on his birthday when they were back at his home in Indiana. This was one surprise she didn’t see coming. After an ecstatic !!YES!!, they celebrated with friends and family and began the 15-month process of planning their wedding.
